Recently Nature Index released the university/institute rankings for the 1/8/2020-31/7/2021 period. Wenzhou University did well on the tally and in this ranking program and its academic level ranks 94th among all the universities/research institutes across China (84th among domestic universities) and 4th in Zhejiang Province (including Zhejiang University).

It is reported that the Natural Index was first launched in November 2014 to keep track of the authors of scientific papers published in high-quality natural science journals. Since June 2018, the number of journals included in this index has increased to 82. The natural index uses following two methods for counting the output of scientific papers: 1. Article count (AC), which means regardless of whether this article has one or more authors, the country or institute that each author belongs to will receive one AC score; 2. Fractional count (FC), which determines the relative contribution made by each author of the article. In recent years, Wenzhou University has always adhered to the correct academic guidance and scientific research development direction, implemented subject-driven initiative and scientific research strategy, under which guidance a large number of high-quality science and research findings have been achieved. This ranking has showcased the strong research strength and development potential of the university.
